In order to reach our goals, we must stop and recognise the bad habits that are hindering our progress! We must slowly and systematically replace these habits with new and more positive ones.
I call this habit stacking.
I often hear dancers say “I need to get fitter or more flexible” but they do not have an understanding of what is preventing them from achieving this, or a clear plan on how to progress.
So, the first thing is to sit down and figure out your plan.
Real change can be brought about by stacking lots of small changes on top of one another.
For example, warming up better so that the first few steps you do at class are done with precision and mindful commitment to improvement, and not just to get you warm.
Say you stack the above with adding 10 minutes of Core at the end, or after, every class. In isolation, they are not much but together they start to make real change. You then add another stack of eating better after class and look! Already, you are starting to behave and set the habits of a Champion.
So sit, plan and stack...remember set a few until they become habit then add a few more slowly. Remember do not try to change too much too soon. Make sure these new habits have become second nature before you try to stack more.
Thank you Edwin
